What Aidan had to say about the exchange between himself and Gerard is very sweet and we love hearing stories like this. (And it’s pretty great to see Gerard looking so happy!)

We first received news that Ellen Page would be playing Vanya Hargreeves (aka #00.07 The White Violin), but we now know who will be playing the rest of the Umbrella Academy team!

Tom Hopper will be joining the cast as Luther Hargreeves (aka #00.01 Spaceboy). Tom is known for his work on Game of Thrones as Dickon Tarly and also for his role as Sir Percival in Merlin. He has played in several other tv shows as well including an apperance in Doctor Who in “The Eleventh Hour” episode.

David Castañeda will be playing Diego Hargreeves (aka #00.02 The Kraken). David has played in Switched at Birth as Jorge Castillo and as Nicholas in Jane the Virgin among numerous other roles. He is currently a busy guy with four other productions in the works as well.

Emmy Raver-Lampman has been selected to play Allison Hargreeves (aka #00.03 The Rumor). Emmy is best known for her break out performance as part of the national touring company of Hamilton. She has been in several other Browdway plays including Hair and the national touring company of Wicked. This will be her first television role and we can’t wait to see how she does with it.

Robert Sheehan has been revealed to be playing Klaus Hargreeves (aka #00.04 The Seance). Robert is best known for his stellar performance in the 2009 British series Misfits. But has been steadily working as an actor since 2003 and has garnished quite the following.

Aidan Gallagher will join the cast as Number Five (aka #00.05 The Boy). Aidan is best known for his work on the show Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn which he has been a part of since it’s start in 2014. We are excited to see how he manages with the more grown up task of playing Number Five.

We’re so excited to see how this list of brilliant actors will bring our beloved Umbrella Academy to life!

The internet erupted with excitement when it was announced Ellen Page will be playing the role of Vanya for the Umbrella Academy Netflix series.

While she is the first cast member to be announced we can tell you what we do know is that the show will start filming in January and will run into July of 2018. This leads us to believe we should expect a fall release for the show. We expect we will learn more about all of this at San Diego Comic Con 2018.

Another big reveal, however, is that Gerard listed as the series co-executive producer and as he told popbuzz we can expect to see him setting a balance between being hands on with the project while also taking a step back to let Netflix take the reins.

GW: I think we’re still figuring that out. Everything’s happening very organically and it’s really happening at kind of a rapid rate and there’s a lot of moving pieces. For the most part though, I’m letting them steer. I’m adding input when it’s needed.

Be sure to keep watching and we’ll keep you updated with all news as soon as it comes available! Meanwhile let us know what you think about this casting decision in the comments below!
